Asakusa Kannon Temple

Senso-ji is the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo, located in the Asakusa district on the banks of the Sumida River. Built in honour of the goddess Kannon, it is now one of the capital's favourite tourist destinations for its flamboyant colours and the popular and commercial atmosphere that prevails there.

Asakusa is best known for its famous Senso-ji temple, which is very popular with tourists. Its large Kaminari-mon door at the entrance sees 30 million people pass through it every year.
